bUY tICKETSSanxingdui is one of mankind’s greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. A Bronze Age civilization from around 3,600 years ago discovered unintentionally in 1927 by a farmer in Guanghan, Sichuan Province, China, the Sanxingdui site is a treasure trove of cultural relics. With major excavations in 1986 and 2021, and still ongoing, over 30,000 relics of gold vessels, jade artifacts, ivories, stone implements, pottery and, most distinctively, bronze ware—have been unearthed so far. These mysteriously patterned bronzes, which famously include the 2.62-meter-high “Bronze Standing Man,” the 1.38m-wide “Bronze Mask,” and the 3.95m-high “Bronze Sacred Tree,” are sublime masterpieces the likes of which have never been seen before.
“Sanxingdui Encounter: A Global Tour of 12k Micro Viewing of National Treasures” is an immersive digital exhibition the first of its kind made in partnership between Sanxingdui Museum and Memor Museum that will open on Madison Ave in Manhattan, New York October 2024. Having been showcased previously in Beijing, Shenzhen, Paris and Doha, and now making its New York debut, this exhibition utilizes one-to-one replica from the Sanxingdui Museum collection and ultra-high-definition technology to showcase precious cultural relics unearthed at the site of Sanxingdui. For the first time, you can experience Sanxingdui up close digitally through an immersive 12k digital hall, VR, and AI interactive activities to appreciate the mysterious ancient Shu civilization.
